My name is Dominique LaVigne, and I am a reporter with 23ABC News in Bakersfield, California. I am originally from Chicago, and I grew up in San Antonio. I am a Hardworking and passionate filmmaker dedicated to telling the stories of underrepresented people.
During my time at 23ABC New, I've covered the historic rain and flooding impacting California and the aftermath of Tropical Storm Hilary, the fentanyl crisis, and the rising number of dumped pets in Kern County. I enjoy covering sports, telling the stories of minority communities, and while they're difficult stories to cover, it's an honor to speak with families after tragedies to share their side of the story with our community.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with high honors, earning a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Film with a minor in business. While in college,  I produced two stories that won 10th place in the National Hearst Journalism Awards my first time working with audio. Later, I became the executive producer of a podcast about Tyler Campbell, the son of Hall-of-Famer, Earl Campbell. Our six-episode podcast follows Tyler's journey from pursuing professional football like his dad to his diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, which changed everything.
I continue to produce content on my own time to improve my skills. Working in the media is so much fun, and I believe the best way to enjoy it is to keep learning.
